Before this project I didn't know much about Japan in the 1960's. Now I am fully knowledgeable of politics, economics, and culture that was going on at the time. In the social life I noticed that males feel a lot of responsibility to please everyone around them, I still think this is true. In the 1960's of japan the economy started growing and to this day the economy of Japan is a highly developed and market-oriented.
My favorite artifact produced had to be the guitar, although it's not how I want it to be at the moment (it will improve) it was a challenge I much enjoyed making.
The aspect learned about the most is economic because there was so much going on at the time it was all there really was to read about.
If you could change one thing about this project it be the fact that we didn't have an exhibition, this year I didn't really feel that we went out to places and presented our work.
My group and I read A Personal Matter;
The book is about a guy named Bird. His wife gives birth to a baby while he is at the store shopping. He finds a book that is opened on a map of Africa, he goes into depth about how he is intrigued by the place and how it is his dream to go to Africa. Later on in the book, his wife's doctor tells Bird that his baby has a brain hernia and will most likely not make it. He brings this news to his father in law. His father in law thinks that the baby should just die. After this, Bird goes back into drinking and meets up with an ex. Bird later on finds out that the baby has survived longer than usual which is shocking for his condition. Bird thinks that the baby is in the way of his dreams and so he takes the baby to an abortion clinic and leaves to the bar. At the bar, he regrets his choices and goes back to the clinic to get his baby back. This book pretty much explains how Bird is maturing and finally taking responsibility. This book was took place in Japan in the 1960s and throughout the book, Bird explains his surroundings which gave us an insight on what Japan was like back then.
